With Afrolocke I want to correct the prevailing Western beauty ideal and make diversity visible in retail. After years of searching the shops for a natural product for my afro hair, I started researching and experimenting at home in my kitchen to develop my own natural formulations.

Definitely the leave-in! It took my styling to a new level. No other product makes my hair this defined and easy to comb without taking away volume or leaving it sticky.

Sadly I do not have green fingers. But this year I planted tomatoes for the first time. It worked surprisingly well. I will get there ;-)

On top of that, I have been buying and loving Afrolocke products from the very beginning. It is not just great that I no longer have to order my hair products from the US or bring them back with me (on trips to the US I deliberately saved space and weight in my suitcase for a lot of products). My hair is genuinely much healthier with Afrolocke, it grows longer and takes less effort because it has become so much easier to care for.

Create a cosy setting with scented candles, palo santo, focus music, a tidy desk and enough water and tea within reach. Regular short breaks and fresh air also boost my productivity.

I look after social media and PR. I come up with posts and stories for our Instagram channel, write blog articles and stay in touch with magazines and influencers. I especially enjoy answering the messages that mostly reach us via Instagram. We have a small, lovely community that shares its knowledge about curls and likes to exchange ideas.

The perfect middle ground, ideally. Happily with a natural bit of frizz, because I like the look.
