More and more women and girls are saying goodbye to chemical relaxers and loving their natural curl mane.

Our products are 100% certified natural cosmetics that nourish your hair with valuable oils and hair butter. We'd love to share our care tips with you.

Did you know your skin is your biggest organ and absorbs everything you put on it? That also goes for your scalp. We at Afrolocke don't use any ingredients that harm your hair or scalp.

One of the most common questions we get is whether our products are suitable for all hair types and curls, the answer is clearly YES. Our products are made for all kinds of care-hungry and stressed hair.

If you have curly hair (which you surely do, since you landed on our blog :)) you know how dry and brittle your hair can get after a long time in the sun, at the sea, after chemical treatments or using flat irons.

#1 Oils and hair butter

Our hair benefits from rich oils and our curls just soak them up. Broccoli seed oil (considered a natural silicone alternative and gives shine), coconut oil (suited for all hair types), argan oil (for very kinky and dry hair) or macadamia oil (for dry and very damaged hair).

They're all great for your hair, especially argan oil is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E. It helps turn dry, unruly hair into soft, shinier, defined curls. Kinky and unruly hair also gets smoother, easier to comb and well-nourished.

Our products contain broccoli seed oil, argan oil and coconut oil. With these you bring your curls back to life and get your shine back.

Hair butter, like shea butter, is also great for caring for dry, brittle hair and split ends. Shea butter is mainly produced in Africa. It has a sweet, nutty smell. You'll clearly notice this scent in our conditioner.

#2 Water

Since we know our hair doesn't like curling irons, flat irons or blow dryers (because they dry hair out and cause split ends), hair also doesn't like water that's too hot during washing. So make sure your water isn't too warm when washing.

#3 Pillowcase

If your afro curls are particularly brittle, it could be your pillowcase. At night we spend a lot of time rubbing our hair against the case through movement and turning. Try a silk pillowcase or a silk hair tie, this way your curls stay smooth.

#4 Towel

Never rub your hair dry with a towel. Use an old T-shirt or microfiber towel instead, this keeps moisture in better.

#5 Heat protection

Even if you don't use heat tools like flat irons, always use a good Leave-In or heat protection product that gives lots of moisture. If you're spending all day in the sun or at the beach, remember that not only your skin but also your hair needs to get its moisture back.
